ICSC for Students

Career Development Workshop

The Career Development Workshop series is designed to assist students in preparing for their internship and employment searches. Some of the topics included are resume and cover letter writing, how to start a successful job search, interview skills, and business etiquette and dress.

The Primary Career Fair Events for NCWC Students!

Have career questions answered, network with employers, present resumes for consideration! Be prepared! Be professional!
North Carolina Wesleyan is a member of ENCCA (Eastern North Carolina Career Alliance), a consortium of Eastern NC Liberal Arts Colleges who sponsors two annual career fairs in Raleigh, NC. Open to students and alumni of member schools only. Students without transportation to Raleigh will be accommodated.
Students at all levels are invited to career fair events, but juniors and seniors seeking employment or internships are especially encouraged to attend to investigate career opportunities and discuss the possibility of a formal job interview at a later date. Those still early in their college careers can also benefit since they can use this time to gather information on career paths, talk with recruiters about career-preparation options and majors, and develop familiarity and confidence with presenting themselves in a professional recruitment setting. Gaining early awareness of your career interests will give you a tangible goal to reach for and a reason to continue to strive for success in college!
Students and alumni are encouraged to bring a supply of resumes and dress appropriately in business attire (full suit recommended). Employers will have company literature and will talk with you about job and career opportunities within their organizations.

Resume Writing Information

Information and resources to assist with resume writing may be found here. The ICSC also provides all students and alumni free access to a resume builder software program through the College Central Network (CCN) system. It also enables students and alumni to have their approved resume available for employers to review and make direct contact.

ICSC Resume Critique

If you would like to have your resume a critiqued by the ICSC, use the resume critique sheet first to make your own adjustments and then send your resume to CareerServices@ncwc.edu or bring it by the Internship & Career Services Center. Feedback will be sent as soon as possible.

This program assists users in their career development by providing tools to evaluate their personality, interests, skills, and values and matching the results of these assessments to careers that might be suitable to them. This tool also has a wealth of information on 1,200 job titles including a detailed report for each (job duties; skills, values, and interests needed to be successful/satisfied in this field; employment outlook; earnings; advancement strategies; work conditions; suggested areas of study/majors, including graduate school; professional organizations, etc.). Additionally, “What Can I Do With a Major In…” is available in this program to assist students in identifying careers that fit with major(s) they are pursuing at Wesleyan.
