ROCKY MOUNT, NORTH CAROLINA— Lieutenant Governor Dan Forest will be the key note speaker for NC Wesleyan’s December Commencement on Saturday, December 9th. The college will be honoring almost 300 students as they receive their undergraduate degrees.
Forest has served as Lieutenant Governor of North Carolina since January 2013. He is only the second Republican Lieutenant Governor to be elected in North Carolina and the first Republican in his state’s history to be re-elected to office. He serves as the President of the North Carolina Senate and serves as a voting member of the State Board of Education, and the State Board of Community Colleges. He is also a member of the NC Advisory Commission on Military Affairs, the chair of the Energy Policy Council, and Food Manufacturing Task Force.
“We are honored that Lt. Governor Forest accepted our invitation to speak at our December Commencement,” stated Wesleyan President Dr. Dewey Clark. “With his success in the business world and the public sector, we look forward to his message to our newly minted graduates.”
Forest was born and raised in Harrisonburg, Virginia. He holds a degree in architecture from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and formerly served on the UNC Charlotte College of Architecture Advisory Board. After college, Forest became a leader in the business community for over 20 years, having served as Office President and Senior Partner of the state’s largest architectural firm – Little Diversified Architectural Consulting.
