Meet Jessica Brys-Wilson, our resident Physician Assistant who has been practicing medicine since 2005 within the Rocky Mount community!
Where are you from? Where did you graduate from?
I’m from upstate NY, in the Adirondack Mountains. I graduated from Daemen College in Amherst, NY
How long have you worked for NCWC?
This is my fifth academic year at Wesleyan.
Do you consider yourself and introvert or an extrovert?
DEFINITELY an introvert.
Vacation in Hawaii or Alaska? Why?
I love the water and do not enjoy cold weather at all.
What is your spirit animal?
I had no idea how to answer this question. I asked my husband and he (way too quickly) answered “a badger.”
Favorite cold weather drink?
What is your favorite thing about Wesleyan?
I love the community feel of Wesleyan. Everyone knows each other and I love how supportive students, staff, and faculty are of each other.
What is your biggest pet peeve?
Favorite part about the NCWC campus?
The Health Center, of course.
What do love most about your current position?
I could talk about this all day. I love working with the college age group. Students are at a point in their lives where they are learning critical skills and developing habits that will last them a lifetime. I love that I get to help them learn how to take care of themselves at such an influential point in their development. I love that I really get to know my patients. On a small campus like this you have an opportunity to develop true relationships with people, which makes it more fulfilling to take care of them. I love being part of the campus community. I love being able to help my co-workers through some of the more challenging times in their lives. And I love that this job allows me to balance my two passions- practicing medicine and being a Mom to my three little girls.
Tell us one odd or interesting fact about you.
I have been a vegetarian since I was twelve years old.
