Friday Feature- Rebecca Solis-Wanous

Where are you from? Where did you graduate from?

I am from Winston Salem, North Carolina. I graduated from the Middle College of Forsyth Tech.

What made you decide to come to Wesleyan?

Throughout my college search, I was looking for a school that would push me academically, spiritually and physically. Wesleyan provides that with their student centered biology program, faith centered background, and successful volleyball program.

Do you consider yourself an introvert or an extrovert?

I have always been a very happy and people oriented extrovert.

Vacation in Hawaii or Alaska? Why?

I would love to go to Hawaii and scuba dive but also experience the native culture.

What is your spirit animal?

I would say a dragon, but not just your typical dragon. More like Mushu from Mulan.

Favorite cold weather drink?

Kenyan Chai Tea always seems to be perfect on cold days.

What is your favorite thing about Wesleyan?

I really appreciate how the community is so diverse and includes multiple ethnicities with the study abroad program. I can’t wait to develop friendships that change the way I see the world.

What is your biggest pet peeve?

It really bothers me when people walk inside a building with wet shoes and purposely drag their feet across the hard surface to create a loud ear piercing squeaking noise.

Favorite part about the NCWC campus?

I haven’t been able to experience much, but I have seen the new dorms being built and the rumors of a new gym. I also liked the café and grill on campus.

Tell us one odd or interesting fact about you.

At the conclusion of the 2017 summer, I will have traveled to 12 different countries outside of the U.S. I also have my own henna business called Buena Henna and I’m excited to share it with more people!
