Overview & Academics

The ENTERTAINMENT/THEATRE major is a liberal arts degree intended to introduce students to the essential elements of entertainment and theatre and requires active participation in the program’s production. This broad-based degree exposes students to the primary elements in the field, including production, history and literature, providing them with options to explore specific areas in the entertainment industry, and recommending courses in other programs which support students’ particular interests.

Career Options

  • Scriptwriting/Screenwriting for live or recorded productions.
  • Production Technology for facilities or theatre companies including sound, lighting, set-making.
  • Manage an entertainment facility or theater.
  • Acting and Directing shows for organizations, companies, or theatres.

Major Requirements
ENT 115 (Majors must earn a “C” or better in ENT 115 to remain in the program), 120, 150, 260, 270, 315, 370, 380, 490 or 492
Six hours minimum in applied production from ENT 111/211/311; and ENG 311.

Minor Requirements
ENT 115, ENT 120, ENT 150, ENT 270 or 370
Three hours minimum in applied production from
ENT 111 and/or 211, and one (3 hour) upper-level Entertainment/Theatre elective.
