Alumni Spotlight – Evan Collins ‘16

A 2016 Honors Program graduate with degrees in Accounting and Business, Evan Collins wants “to be one of the greatest to ever graduate from Wesleyan and give back to my school in ways nobody has before.”

After graduating from NC Wesleyan, Evan attended North Carolina Central University’s dual master’s program where he earned an MBA and an MIS. He obtained an accounting job at Fortnite, better know as Epic Games. After two years, Evan was promoted to the Mega Grants team where he is in charge of helping dedicate millions of dollars to organizations and businesses. He is currently working on a Diversity and Inclusion project that will provide funds to HBCU’s (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) and other initiatives that impact now and invest in the ideas of tomorrow. Evan says “my overall goal is to help drive change in recruitment for more diverse candidates, fund forward thinking initiatives, and help create an environment in which people of all colors can thrive and truly be themselves. It may sound cliché, but I’m here to help and create change for the world and other inspired schools/organizations that want to embrace forward thinkers no matter what the color or race. A long vision of mine is to be the first black president of North Carolina Wesleyan College and chairman of the Honors Program.”

Evan would like to create an internship program bridging Epic Games and NC Wesleyan. “I put the pressure and responsibility on my shoulders as I seem to be remembered for opening doors for the next generation.”

A new homeowner, Evan is currently working on buying his second house at the end of the year and starting his doctorate. He wants a wife and kids one day, but is prioritizing success first. “The stigma/stereotype of the black man/woman will be broken and I hope to bridge that chasm with personal success and I will create generational wealth for not just my family, but for the people of color in general. We can do it.”
