Alumni Spotlight: Audrey Faye Cooley Vick '69

Graduating magna cum laude with a degree in Mathematics in 1969, Audrey Faye Cooley Vick was a member of "The Decree" staff for a year. She spent most of her time working off campus to assist with her education.

Faye worked for Hardee's Food Systems and later NC Wesleyan designing and programming computer applications such as accounting and online registration. She later served as HR/Financial Director for her husband's business, Vick's Pallets and Crates before retirement.

Faye has been married to E. Trent Vick for 48 years and has two children and one granddaughter.

Her hobbies include growing flowers, reading, card games with friends, and puzzles. Faye is active in community activities such as the local pregnancy care center's annual walk (past 20 years). She also regularly participates in various church events and Bible studies.

Faye recently placed her first children’s book, “Jesus is my Big Brother”, on the market. After years of searching for an illustrator, refining and editing, her book is now in the Harold Cooley Library in Nashville, NC, Faith Christian Bookstore in Wilson, and several church libraries as well as the NC Wesleyan library. You may contact her at tfvick7@gmail.com if interested in a personal copy.

When asked what she loved about being a Battling Bishop, Faye said, "making new friends and staying a year in the dorm." Vick also initiated "Wesleyan friends in North Dorm" annual reunion for many of her classmates graduating in the sixties. When asked why it was important to give back to NC Wesleyan through your time or resources, Faye replied, "to enable other students lacking in resources to be able to further their education."

Congratulations again to Audrey Faye Vick, this week's Alumni Spotlight and a charter member of the first "Golden Bishops Circle". #ncwcalumni #wesleyanpride #wesleyanfamily

Good morning, NCWC Alumni!

My name is Caroline Little, and I'm the new Alumni Relations Coordinator!

I'm an alumnus myself (let's gooo, class of 2007!), and I'm so excited to be back at my alma mater! I’ll share a little about myself and then give you some news about what’s to come!

I’m originally from Myrtle Beach, SC, but I grew up in Goldsboro, NC; I currently live in Greenville with my husband, Mark. We have 5 guinea pigs and a fern that we haven’t named because we can’t agree on one? lol

I graduated with a degree in Psychology and have done LOTS of things with my degree, including social work, leadership/management, consulting, and most recently, executive leadership for a non-profit organization named Teal Toes.

My time at NC Wesleyan had a big impact on me by providing me with opportunities to grow personally, professionally, and to connect with some pretty amazing people—simply put, that’s what I want our alumni activities & programs to do as well. I can’t do it alone, though, and honestly, I don’t want to!

I want us to do fun things that enrich and support our communities. I want to create opportunities for long distance alumni to participate with local events. I want to make it easier for new alumni to find professional contacts that will help them establish and advance their careers. I want to help current students understand what it means to be a Wesleyan Alumni and everything that comes with it. I want to connect with alumni that graduated in the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s and help them find classmates they haven’t seen in years.

There’s so much more, but I’ll stop there (for now 😉).

In the coming months, I’ll be announcing programs that will help accomplish this and more!

In the meantime, if you have ideas or questions, please feel free to reach out to me!

Phone: (252) 985-5219

I’ll also be helping to manage this and the other alumni social media pages too, so if you see my name, comment and say hi!

Before I finish, I’d just like to say thank you for coming to Wesleyan. Thank you for supporting us, and for sharing our history, stories, and memories.

You are what makes NC Wesleyan the best place to be.

Have a fantastic day, friends. I look forward to everything that is to come!

Caroline

P.S. I welcome name suggestions for my fern. 😉

Welcome! Ron Bove Class of ‘86-‘87. I know there used to be alumni gatherings all over the east coast. Anything like that would be a great way to meet other alumni.

So excited to see what the future holds for alumni!

Hi, I’m Jeff Shelton and a member of the Alumni Board. I graduated in Psychology and entered a 40 year career in human services, therapy, counseling and administration/supervision. Board membership provided me with the opportunity to help coordinate projects that connected alums and students around career education. In 2017 I received the honor of being chosen as Alumni of the Year. We are actively seeking new board members who are grateful for their experiences at the college and want to give back. If you are interested to learn more about board membership, please reply to me.

Welcome home

We are so glad to have you!- Dr. Bass

Welcome!!!

Bishop is a great name. It’s the name of our cat that was rescued as a kitten on campus! Welcome from the Class of ‘83

Call your fern "B"....for Bishop..... Also, as an alumni I'd appreciate getting a small auto bumper sticker of NC Wesleyan... I'd even make a nice donation to your dept. for it.
