Admissions Coordinator – Rocky Mount APS

North Carolina Wesleyan University is a four-year, Liberal Arts university located in Rocky Mount, NC. We are inviting applications for a full-time Admissions Coordinator for our Adult & Professional Studies Department. The position will be located in Rocky Mount, NC.

Summary
Manage the enrollment module of University software for all Adult Studies locations, undergraduate and graduate programs. This includes, but is not limited to, daily processes such as applications, candidate communications and tracking admissions requirements. Research and analyze system performance issues and determine appropriate solutions. Utilize various reports; analyze report data to assist in the development of strategic plans and operational processes. Research and analyze system performance issues, new technology and strategic solutions. Provide administrative support to department directors and deans.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage enrollment module of University software, Jenzabar
  • Process electronic applications, undergraduate & graduate
  • Develop & maintain candidate communication process (daily procedures) for undergraduate & graduate
  • Track admissions documents, undergraduate & graduate
  • Process background requests, undergraduate & graduate
  • Make undergraduate admissions decisions
  • Contact undergraduate and graduate admissions candidates by phone, text and emails in accordance with admissions procedures
  • Conduct undergraduate and graduate admissions information sessions with potential candidates
  • Submit and track completed undergraduate and graduate admissions files to Director for acceptance determination
  • Transfer students to registration module, undergraduate & graduate
  • Admissions reporting, undergraduate & graduate
  • Determine software solutions, including functional capabilities in collaboration with admissions counselors, directors and deans
  • Develop and maintain admissions processes communication documents (emails, letters, etc.)
  • Various systems and admissions projects, as assigned
  • Counsel students on undergraduate and graduate admissions procedures, collect and track all application paperwork.
  • Ensure official documentation sent to the Registrar’s office is complete and free of errors.
  • Participate in creating goals and plans that would result in increasing student enrollment, retention, revenue and improved processes.
  • Promote APS in the community, churches, civic organizations, businesses and community colleges.
  • Participate in recruiting events (on and off campus) as needed
  • Manage faculty contract software and processes
  • Assumes other activities and responsibilities as directed.
  • Participate in team training, meetings, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Prior experience in a higher education environment highly desirable
  • Prior experience with various software programs
  • Self-starter with initiative and ability to work independently with minimal direction
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • A reliable personal vehicle that can be used for work travel (mileage reimbursement provided).
  • Must be able to work until 6:30 PM nightly and occasionally evenings and weekends as required for recruitment fairs.

Admissions and Advising Coordinator – Winston-Salem APS

North Carolina Wesleyan University is a four-year, Liberal Arts University located in Rocky Mount, NC. We are inviting applications for a full-time Admissions and Advising Coordinator for our Adult & Professional Studies Department. The position will be located in Winston-Salem, NC.

Summary:  Recruit and counsel incoming Winston-Salem students regarding the admissions process; assist in the development of institutional application and information materials; full advisement of prospective and current students; have strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to interface well with the public; assist with recruitment and admission efforts as assigned by the Administration.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Admissions:

  • Respond to inquiries (email, telephone, referrals, letters, and personal contact) within 24 hours. Follow up with inquiries to help guide them through the application process.
  • Manage system processes and admissions communication processes.
  • Counsel students on undergraduate admissions procedures, collect and track all application paperwork.
  • Ensure official documentation sent to the Registrar’s office is complete and free of errors.
  • Apply transfer credit guidelines in review and assessment of prospective students.
  • Manage applicant files, make admission decisions, register students and provide orientation.
  • Conduct on and off-campus interviews with prospective students.
  • Report weekly inquiries, applicants and new students to Director.
  • Promotes APS at community colleges, churches, civic organizations and businesses
  • Communicate a positive image of APS to the community.
  • Develop, implement and participate in recruiting/networking events in the local and surrounding communities.

Advising:

  • Advise and counsel students on academic policies and processes, including major and minor requirements, degree completion, academic planning, etc.
  • Process registrations, student drops, financial aid paperwork, etc.
  • Audit files to ensure accurate tracking of credits completed.
  • Follow up with advisees on first week drops, complete drop forms, submit to Director
  • Relationship building with students through telephone, email, and face-to-face communication

Other:

  • Assist administration with various admissions & advising projects, as assigned.
  • Participate in team trainings, meetings, etc.
  • Travel in local/neighboring communities and to NCWC locations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Prior experience in a non-traditional higher education environment is highly desirable.
  • Prior sales experience is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills are required.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and handle multiple tasks
  • Computer literacy with experience using Jenzabar is preferred.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends as required for education fairs.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
  • A reliable personal vehicle that can be used for work travel (mileage reimbursement provided).
