What is Connect?

Connect Youth Theology Institute is a Christian program on the campus of North Carolina Wesleyan college in Rocky Mount, NC. Students experience theological discussion, sessions with college professors, learn about opportunities to serve in the Nash/Edgecombe community, and engage in spiritual practices to use in their daily life. (Prayer, journaling, reading scripture). Connect combines the excitement of camp, classroom experience of college, and practical application of real-life circumstances and needs.

Connect YTI is proud to be part of the Youth Theology Network across the USA. YTN is a national network of colleges, universities, and theological schools funded by Lilly Endowment Inc. to identify, ignite and cultivate the gifts of a new generation of Christian leaders who will make an impact in the world. As a partner, the Forum for Theological Exploration (FTE) supports, resources and promotes this national network of theology programs for high school students.”

Week-long Residency:

High school students gather at NCWC for a week. Connect invites students to immerse themselves into the theological themes of a book of the Bible.

We spend the morning grounding ourselves in prayer, meditation, and nature. During the afternoon we enjoy working with our hands, using our minds to engage theological studies, and resting on the campus of NCWC. Evenings are full of sharing a meal, worship, and fun. We end the night with reflecting on the day with gratitude and conversation.
