ROCKY MOUNT, NORTH CAROLINA – The Rocky Mount Area Chamber of Commerce announced Dr. Dewey Clark as Chairman during their 114th annual meeting. Dr. Clark is a native of Zebulon, NC and has been President of North Carolina Wesleyan College since May 2014. He previously was the Executive Director of Strategic Planning for MBM Corporation.
The annual meeting took place at Nash Community College’s Brown Auditorium with more than 400 people in attendance. The meeting began with keynote speaker, David Fountain, North Carolina President of Duke Energy and Chairman of the NC Chamber of Commerce. Following the keynote, the Chamber recognized Helen Laughery as Distinguished Citizen of the Year, Debra Holmes as Ambassador of the Year, Ken Hunter as Volunteer of the Year and Dr. Monique Brown received the President’s Award. Before closing, former chairman of the Rocky Mount Chamber, Marty Nealey, passed the chairman’s gavel to Dr. Clark.
Clark accepted the honor stating, “2018 is going to be one of the best years in the history of our city. We have everything in place to make that happen. With the Downtown Event Center, Rocky Mount Mills, CSX, Triangle Tire, Pfizer, Cummins, Wesleyan College and everything else that is going on… we have a very exciting year ahead of us.”
The Rocky Mount Area Chamber of Commerce is a membership organization with over 700 business members in the surrounding areas, serving as the leading business advocate for sustaining and promoting economic prosperity in the region. The Chamber exists to foster economic growth and to advance the commercial, industrial, and civic well-being of the region though a strong, expanding business base.
